Particle Playground opens up new possibilities to the Shuriken Particle System in Unity and let you control them like never before. Particle Playground is a toolset which enables you to be creative in new ways of altering and rendering particles in your 3d application.
Particle Playground can process images and meshes and rebuild them into something the framework calls states. A state can be used in many ways to illustrate the structure for the particles. Another module the framework use are called World Objects, which opposed to a state is a live GameObject within the scene (skinned meshes are supported as well).
On top of this there are manipulators which will alter the particle behavior over their lifetime, adding gravitational and repelling forces. The particles are reused in a particle pool structure for performance, which is the main reason why you can simulate so many on screen at the same time.
The Particle Playground framework features can all be called through scripting. It is also fully accessible through the Unity Editor's Inspector, where you can change a Particle Playground System's settings visually in realtime.
